Our mission is to put the ingredients together in such a way that those who walk through the doors will know that their identity is in Christ alone, and they are sealed in the Spirit.

About Our Ministry

Those who enter the doors of The Mary Magdalene House have a need for support. These (new friends) may have a family member that is mentally ill, or working through addiction, adoption issues, marital problems, etc. We all know there is no shortage of crazy out there, but only a shortage of people willing to help, support, and love everyone who may be come to us. We provide support to our (new friends) who are dealing with family afflictions.

We are a non-clinical counseling center that specializing in pastoral counseling. We believe that just as Mary Magdalene was considered the least, she was first to see the divinity of Jesus resurrected.

It’s All in A Name

Mary Magdalene is the inspiration for The Mary Magdalene House. Mary Magdalene became an avid follower of Christ after he cast out seven demons from her. Jesus set her free. When Jesus was resurrected from the grave, she was the first to see the resurrected Savior. Mary Magdalene reminds us that the last shall be first. The Fruit of The Mary Magdalene House might feel like the “Mary Magdalene” in their community. Out there, they feel last. Here, they shall be first.

Breaking the Curse

The Mary Magdalene House sits on 2.5 acres of land that was once cursed by generations of drug abuse and drug trafficking. We are building physically and spiritually to transform the land into a holy place for people to see and feel the power of the Lord Jesus Christ. In 2021, we spent our first church service of Palm Sunday on the dirt outside of our building construction site, blessing the building with a palm branch in the foundation. We now have regular Sunday Services to worship, praise, and celebrate the Glory of Jesus.

Up and Running

Our physical building process is finished but the spiritual building is continual. The Mary Magdalene House–a multi-functional building for a multi-faceted ministry that serves families in our community. There will be all kinds of jobs to be done:

  • Time in the kitchen. Making the jam, literally (or cookies, apple sauce, spaghetti sauce, etc). Or we may just have a cup of coffee at the kitchen island. We don’t want the experience at The Mary Magdalene House to feel like ‘counseling’, we want it to feel like ‘family’.

  • We utilize the family table.  Jesus invites us to His table and we will invite our (new friends) to the table for fellowship. Many families will need help re-establishing the sanctity of the ‘family table’. We can learn to love each other again through appropriate non-threatening postures and conversation around the family table.

  • We offer classes and counseling on appropriate responses to mental illness, adoption, learning disabilities, and grief.

  • John is leading a ‘Jesus Study’ in which the Bible is used as a source material. This is a weekly ‘deep dive’ study that is interactive and includes lots of coffee and breakfast. Classes will focus on meditation, prayer, and learning how to ‘lean in’ to the Presence of God.

  • We offer large gatherings including our Sunday morning services and small conferences involving guest speakers.

  • There will be a Garden to Garden Ministry. The garden at the house will be used to provide food for those in need while also teaching us about growth and life. The seasons of plant, weed, and harvest will be used to help us focus on the times of planting, weeding, and harvesting in our spiritual lives.

Taste the Lord and know that He is good; blessed is the one who take refuge in Him.
